Downhill Gifts
Altıdan Sonra Theater & Lokstoff!

Picture

Altidan Sonra addresses these new circumstances with their play “Anvertrautes entlang der Gasse” thereby showing a feel for this precarious situation. The actors around the the team of directors, Yaman Ömer Erzurumlu and Wilhelm Schneck, want to show that theatre deals with the concerns of people, that it can speak for and with them, that it is not an ivory tower. The content and subject matter of the play is being especially developed by the directors but also by the Turkish acting-foursome Ismail Sagir, Gülsah Firincioglu, Sinem Öcalir and Selen Sesen and with the support of Lokstoff! actress Kathrin Hildebrand.

Schneck and Hildebrand are very experienced in developing their own stories and plays which furthermore have to meet the conditions of being performed in public spaces (sound, language, interaction, improvisation, etc.) Lokstoff! has given proof of its directoral as well as dramatic feel for public spaces in producing plays like “Himmel über Stuttgart –Engel 1” or “Grand Hotel Abrund”, in which Erzurumlu took over a guest role.

In this new play the spectators turn into people being expelled from their homes. They have to hand in the keys of their apartments in which they have lived for years. Shortly before they have to move to their future homes, they gather one more time on the street. On their way down the alley, four characters turn out to be quite talkative. They meet up one last time in the evening and entrust their stories to the ones left behind. Witnessing these memories, the visitors go down the steep alley toward a highly uncertain future in the Turkish metropolis.
